Atacama and Easter Island in 8 Days in Chile

This small-group trip combines two very different parts of Chile: the desert around San Pedro de Atacama and Easter Island, known locally as Rapa Nui. In Atacama, the itinerary includes the salt flat and the Moon Valley, with time at Toconao and an early visit to El Tatio geysers. On Easter Island, it focuses on the island’s main archaeological sites, including Rano Raraku, Anakena, Orongo, Rano Kau and Ana Te Pahu. The trip is led by bilingual guides on the excursions. Internal flights are not included, and assistance can be provided if needed. Accommodation is based on three nights in San Pedro de Atacama, one night in Santiago airport area, and three nights on Easter Island.

    San Pedro de Atacama

    Arrival in San Pedro de Atacama

    Arrival in Calama and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama. The rest of the day is free to settle in and adjust to the altitude. In the evening, there is a stargazing activity at a small observatory in the desert.

    Salar de Atacama

    Salar de Atacama and Moon Valley

    Visit the Atacama Salt Flat, including Chaxa Lagoon and Toconao. In the afternoon, continue to Moon Valley for its main viewpoints and rock formations.

    Altiplanic Lagoons and Piedras Rojas

    Full-day excursion to the high Andean area south of San Pedro de Atacama. The route includes Piedras Rojas, the Altiplanic Lagoons and views of the surrounding volcanoes, with breakfast and lunch included.
