This 11-day small-group tour links China’s best-known cities with time in Chengdu and Leshan, giving the trip a clear focus on culture, history and giant pandas. Start in Beijing with the Temple of Heaven, the hutongs, Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, then visit the Great Wall and the Summer Palace before taking the train to Xi'an. In Xi'an, explore the city wall, the Terracotta Warriors and the Muslim Quarter, with a stop at a pottery workshop along the way. Continue by train to Chengdu for the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, People’s Park, Wuhou Temple and Jinli Ancient Street, plus a day trip to Leshan. The tour ends in Shanghai with time for Yuyuan Garden, old lanes, the City History Museum and the Bund.
