Laos Southern Highlights: Pakse, Wat Phou and Don Khong

This four-day trip follows southern Laos from Pakse into the Bolaven Plateau, Champasak, Wat Phou, Don Khone and Don Khong. It combines road travel, ferry crossings and a boat trip through the region’s river landscape. The route includes Wat Phou, a Khmer temple complex dating to the 5th century, a visit to the Bolaven Plateau with its cooler climate and agricultural areas, and time around the waterfalls and villages along the way. The final days continue through the 4,000 Islands area before returning to Pakse. Trip notes Private, air-conditioned transport is used throughout the land sections.
