Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu by Vistadome Train
The Salkantay Trek is a five-day route to Machu Picchu that crosses high Andean scenery, cloud forest and the approach to the citadel from the mountains above. Along the way, the trail passes Humantay Lake, the Salkantay Pass, Lucmabamba, Llaqtapata and Aguas Calientes. The journey includes camping, stays in Andean huts and a night in Aguas Calientes before the visit to Machu Picchu. It also features a Pachamanca barbecue, a visit to an organic coffee farm and the return on the Vistadome train.
